Job summary

Mercy Hospital is seeking a Food Service Worker I at Mercy Hospital Stoddard in Dexter, MO. The role involves non-cooking tasks such as washing dishes, cold prep, salad production, serving, cashier duties, tray passing, cart loading, and general cleaning.

This PRN position supports the Food Services department. Preferred education is a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of service-related experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a service-related environment.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Washes dishes and handles general cleaning.
• Performs cold prep, salad production, and serving.
• Acts as cashier and assists with tray passing.
• Loads carts and receives deliveries.
• Maintains patient and customer relations to ensure satisfaction.

Hours/Schedule: PRN

Department: Food Services

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Preferred Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in a service-related environment/industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Maintains relationship with patients and customers to attain quality satisfaction of food.
• Is courteous, considerate and cooperative when communicating with all patients, guests, team members, and hospital personnel.
• Ability to work in direct contact with a variety of foods.
• Able to meet schedule requirements (attendance and punctuality).
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
