Job summary

Navy Region Southwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) at Naval Base Coronado seeks a food service worker to support food preparation, serving, and sanitation. The role involves setting up buffets, serving meals, and maintaining clean kitchen equipment.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform tasks involving several procedures.
• Knowledge of food handling techniques and portion control.
• Have ability to perform basic arithmetic.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must have a working knowledge or ability to learn sanitation standards.
• Working knowledge of procedures to prevent contamination, such as cleaning equipment for raw foods and using sanitizers.
• Must be able to pass food service screening and training.

Responsibilities

• Set up buffet/food lines and serving areas with hot and cold items.
• Serve food by portioning onto plates and brewing coffee.
• Assemble and portion salads and other items.
• Break down and clean assigned areas after meals.
• Operate a mechanical dishwasher and perform preventive maintenance tasks.
• Scrub heavy cooking utensils and assist with heavy cleaning of kitchen areas.
• Unload food from delivery trucks and move trash to disposal area.
• Assist in taking inventory and follow safety and sanitation requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
