Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a supervisor to coordinate daily operations in nutrition services and retail cafes on campus. You will lead nutrition aides, sales assistants, and kitchen personnel, ensuring timely service and adherence to quality standards.

The role involves training staff, enforcing standards, managing food requisitions, and shaping sanitation and policy procedures. Background check and post-offer screenings may apply.

Qualifications

• 600 hours of training in the operation of kitchen equipment.
• 600 hours of training in food preparation.
• 6 courses in supervision.
• 6 courses in food management.
• 1 course in budgeting.
• 1 course in bookkeeping.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Under supervision of the Nutrition Services Assistant/Associate Director, ensure timely service that meets standards.
• Supervise, coordinate, and participate in activities of nutrition aides, sales assistants, and kitchen personnel.
• Build partnerships with other departments.
• Lead and train service staff in patient care and retail cafes.
• Enforce quality standards.
• Requisition food and food-related products.
• Manage sanitation plan where applicable and assist with policy/procedure development.
• Act as a frontline supervisor, supporting operations and optimizing labor efficiency.
• Integrate functions within areas and across the department.

Minimum Education Required

• Per Classified Civil Service specifications or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications

• Training and Experience:
  • 600 hours of training in the operation of kitchen equipment (or 6 months of experience).
  • 600 hours of training in food preparation (or 6 months of experience).
  • 6 courses in supervision (or 6 months of experience).
  • 6 courses in food management (or 6 months of experience).
  • 1 course in budgeting (or 1 month of experience).
  • 1 course in bookkeeping (or 1 month of experience).
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred:
  • 1-3 years of management experience.
