Job summary

Upstate Cerebral Palsy in Chadwicks, NY, is seeking a Food Service/School Aide to provide nutritious meals in a welcoming, clean environment. You will work with school district/BOCES partners to ensure safe handling and serving of food.

Responsibilities include meal prep, serving, keeping records, sanitation, and adherence to food safety guidelines. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with 1 year of housekeeping or food service experience preferred.

Pay $17.50 an hour The Food Service/School Aide position plays a vital role in providing nutritious meals to students in a welcoming and clean environment. This position works closely with school district/BOCES partners to ensure food is received, handled and served in accordance with appropriate guidelines.

Core Responsibilities

• Collaborate with district and BOCES partners to complete necessary documentation for meal orders and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
• Assist in meal preparation and serving, following student dining plans, meal time guidelines and portion guidelines.
• Maintain adequate supply of utensils, condiments, and other necessary items in classrooms and cafeteria.
• Serve food to students courteously and efficiently, adhering to portion control standards.
• Keep records of meals served and provide documentation to district/BOCES partners as required.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation in the cafeteria by cleaning tables, countertops, serving areas, and equipment, including washing dishes and kitchen equipment.
• Follow food safety procedures, including proper storage, handling, and labeling.
• Assist in receiving and storing deliveries of food supplies and merchandise.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper use of protective equipment and sanitation protocols.
• Manage inventory by rotating stock, monitoring expiration dates, and reporting shortages to the Cafeteria Manager.
• Provide friendly and helpful customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
• Attend training sessions and meetings to stay updated on food safety, menu changes, and departmental policies.
• Provide assistance in coordinating individual and group activities in the classroom in line with each students IEP and any other applicable plans such as mealtime guidelines, behavior plans, and CFA’s.
• Ensure that documentation is accurate, contemporaneous, and effectively communicates all information required to be regulatory compliant.
• Obtain and maintain SCIP-R and CPR certification.
• Provide thorough documentation that can be clearly understood by a reader.
• Promote and oversee the safety and well-being of the individuals’ we support through use of written, verbal procedures, safety equipment and awareness of any potential dangers.
• Attend to personal, self-care and other program needs the students cannot independently accomplish.
• Assist therapists as needed in carrying out student therapy goals.
• Provide physical and/or verbal support to acute behavior issues.
• Provide a supportive person-centered approach while interacting with students.
• Participate in classroom maintenance and organization.
• Adhere to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPPA requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-year housekeeping and/or food service experience preferred.
