Job summary

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in Saddle Brook, NJ, is seeking a Food Service Manager to lead operations of the Food Service department, focusing on menu planning, staff development, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards to support optimal patient care.

The successful candidate will have at least five years of management experience in healthcare food service, knowledge of nutrition considerations, and willingness to participate in orientation and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in a management capacity in a Food and Nutrition department or healthcare food service department.
• Completion of a state or local approved food safety course.
• Thorough knowledge of food products and service, operations, staffing, handling, storage and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Planning, organizing, directing and evaluating all phases of the department.
• Managing budget and cost control, menu planning, quality food procurement, food preparation and service, administrative record keeping, maintaining high standards of nutritional care, quality improvement and quality control.
• Leading trainings of Food Services personnel to ensure safety and sanitation procedures are being followed.
• Scheduling Food Services personnel.
• Calculating menus in accordance with diet order and nutritional needs of patients.
• Performs other duties as requested.

The Food Service Manager coordinates the operations of the Food Service department to promote optimal patient care while providing exemplary customer service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to menu planning, staff management, development, training and evaluation of systems and processes to achieve department goals.
