Job summary

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ, seeks a Food Service Manager to oversee the Food Service department, ensuring high-quality patient meals and exemplary service. You will plan menus, manage staff, control budgets, and develop processes to meet nutrition standards and regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidates bring five+ years in healthcare food service management, and a state/local food safety certificate; a Bachelor's in Nutrition Sciences is preferred.

Qualifications

• Five or more years in a management capacity in a Food and Nutrition department or healthcare food service department.
• Completion of a state or local approved food safety course.
• Thorough knowledge of food products and service, operations, staffing, handling, storage and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct and evaluate all phases of the department.
• Manage budget and cost control, menu planning, quality food procurement, preparation and service, and record keeping.
• Lead trainings of Food Services personnel to ensure safety and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Schedule Food Services personnel.
• Calculate menus in accordance with diet order and nutritional needs of patients.
• Perform other duties as requested.

The Food Service Manager coordinates the operations of the Food Service department to promote optimal patient care while providing exemplary customer service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to menu planning, staff management, development, training and evaluation of systems and processes to achieve department goals.

• Planning, organizing, directing and evaluating of all phases of the department.
• Managing budget and cost control, menu planning, quality food procurement, food preparation and service, administrative record keeping, maintaining high standards of nutritional care, quality improvement and quality control.
• Leading trainings of Food Services personnel to ensure safety and sanitation procedures are being followed.
• Scheduling Food Services personnel.

• Performs other duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements

• Five or more years in a management capacity in a Food and Nutrition department or healthcare food service department required.

Preferred Qualifications That Will Make You Successful
