Job summary

Amherst Schools is seeking a Food Service Helper 10-month to assist in school cafeterias. The role involves early morning duties, washing dishes, lightweight food prep, and supporting the cook manager in daily meal service.

FOOD SERVICE HELPER 10 -MONTH

SALARY:

$17.00 per hour

HOURS:

17.5hrs/week-School Days Only- (Mon. - Fri. 10:30am to 2:00pm)

LOCATION:

District Wide

START DATE:

November 4, 2026

DUTIES and QUALIFICATIONS:

• Willing and able to start at 5:30am when needed
• Train as a backup cook following USDA regulations — (**Pay differential when filling in for a cook**)
• Have knowledge of safe food handling
• Washing of pots & pans
• Work in dish room
• Minor Food Preparation
• Any reasonable request assigned by the cook manager
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift
• Must be able to understand, read and write and speak the English language proficiently
• Must be a team player.
• Experience is helpful, but not necessary

• Must be fingerprinted through the NYS Department of Education (required for new employees)
