Hours: 9:00am-1:00pm

TITLE: Food Service Helper

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator or Department Supervisor/Director

Purpose: The Food Service Helper will perform duties under the supervision of a Cook, Dietetic Technician, or Food Service Supervisor, including food preparation, service, and cleaning of kitchen equipment. The role also involves being the welcoming face of the building/department, ensuring patrons receive friendly service. This job description aligns with the Wayne County Civil Service standards.

Expected Results:

1. Operational Functions: Ensure daily functions by maintaining knowledge of food service methods, kitchen appliance care, restocking supplies, preparing vegetables and fruits, assisting in salads and desserts, supporting cooks, washing dishes, acting as cashier when needed, and adhering to Food Service policies.
2. Customer Service: Create a positive experience for parents, students, community members, employees, and visitors by greeting warmly, demonstrating customer service skills, being attentive, communicating clearly, and de-escalating situations when necessary.
3. Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Building Administrator or Department Supervisor/Director.
