Job description

Job Responsibilities

Prepares food in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, and our policies and procedures. Responsible for preparing food for patients, retail outlets, catering, and the doctor's lounge.

  1. Prepares various hot foods, baked items, sandwiches, and short order items following production sheets and approved recipes; prepares modified diet foods for all outlets.
  2. Performs cooking and baking operations using standard kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, broilers, and microwave ovens.
  3. Ensures food is prepared using proper quality control (HACCP) and sanitation standards, and in sufficient quantities to minimize waste.
  4. Distributes food to appropriate locations.
  5. Works independently with proper directions.
  6. Cleans and maintains kitchen equipment used in food preparation.
  7. Ensures food preparation areas are properly cleaned and sanitized.
  8. Labels, dates, and stores leftover foods properly; completes food temperature checks using taste and temperature logs.
  9. Practices proper safety techniques according to hospital and departmental policies; reports equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or injuries immediately to the manager.
Minimum Requirements
  • One year of food service experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of common diet modifications.
  • One year of experience as a cook in hospital food service or restaurant.
