Position Overview: Fresh Foods Clerk

The Fresh Foods Clerk is responsible for the daily operations of the store's deli/foodservice, ensuring high standards of sanitation, store appearance, and customer service while adhering to company policies and procedures. This role requires a passion for food and serving customers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and team members.
2. Engaging with customers through greetings, offering product information, suggesting items, and providing samples, always expressing gratitude.
3. Providing fast, friendly customer service.
4. Processing transactions accurately, including handling cash, giving change, and refunds.
5. Using scale printers to ensure correct weights and pricing.
6. Monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement, including the use of shelf tags and signage.
7. Keeping the check stand and work areas clean and organized.
8. Preparing, wrapping, boxing, weighing, slicing, and stocking deli/foodservice products, rotating stock as needed for quality and safety.
9. Cooking and preparing deli items such as fried foods, salads, sandwiches, roller grill items, and beverages.
10. Working safely around equipment like slicers, ovens, and burners.
11. Displaying products according to department and merchandising guidelines.
12. Taking customer orders and ensuring timely and satisfactory completion.
13. Performing other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings, and assist at other locations as needed.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
• Serv-Safe certification preferred.
• Interest in learning new products and recipes.
• A passion for food and creativity.
• Courteous, helpful, and tactful demeanor.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Basic math skills for transactions and measurements.
• Ability to operate registers, scales, scanners, and payment terminals.
• Ability to read UPC codes, labels, signage, and policies.
• Knowledge of deli ingredients and food preparation.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs, work in coolers, stand for long periods, and handle equipment safely.
