Summary

The Food Service Assistant is responsible for duties including, but not limited to, monitoring and recording proper food temperatures, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, receiving payment for food and beverages using a computerized register, and other related responsibilities.

Job Description

Ensures compliance with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service. Provides outstanding customer service and communicates effectively with patrons and coworkers. Demonstrates ability to establish effective working relationships.

Maintains quality control standards. Operates equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, and freezers. Prior experience in the food industry is preferred.

Ability to work independently when necessary. Understanding of food safety and sanitation processes. Ability to stand for most of the day and walk long distances.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Previous customer service experience, retail counting, reconciliation of money, and food service knowledge preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic math skills. On-the-job training provided.
• Depending on the location, ServSafe certification may be required within a specified time frame.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending on location.
