Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Diet/Tray Service associate to read tray tickets, assemble and deliver patient meals, and maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen area.

You will also handle cash register operations, portion food items, and assist with temperature checks and stock rotation while delivering friendly service to patients and cafeteria guests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions and memos.

Responsibilities

• Reads patient tray ticket orders and places items on trays.
• Delivers/serves patient trays, snacks and supplements.
• Assist patients with opening items.
• Collects patient trays from rooms and stacks dirty dishes on cart for return to kitchen.
• Operates dish machine and performs daily/weekly cleaning tasks.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
• Serve cafeteria customers and operate cash register.
• Portion food items as directed and replenish stock with proper rotation.
• Take and record food and equipment temperatures.
• Clean and sanitize work area, tables, and cabinets.
• Follow safety and sanitation regulations and use protective barriers as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESReads patient tray ticket orders and places items on trays.Delivers / serves patient trays, snack and supplements Assist patients with opening any itemsCollects patient trays from room, stacks dirty dishes on cart and returns cart to kitchenOperates dish machinePerforms daily / weekly cleaning tasksWashes and sanitizes dishes, pots and pans, and kitchen equipmentMaybe required to filter hot oil with mesh strainer and/or change oil in fryersServes cafeteria customersOperates cash registerPortions food items as directedReplenishes stock with proper rotationTakes and records food temperaturesTakes and records equipment temperaturesCleans and sanitizes work area, tables, and cabinetsCollects and places garbage and trash in designated containersFollows scripting when delivering patient traysAdheres to department safety and sanitation regulationsUse protective barriers (gloves, apron, and proper hair coverings)Excellent customer service skills needed when delivering patient traysEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.CERTIFICATION/LICENSUREN/AOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESGood interpersonal / communications skills.Language SkillsAbility to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one to other employees of the organizationAbility to communicate with others in a positive mannerMathematical SkillsAbility to add and subtract.
