Mercyhealth is seeking a cook responsible for preparing food items for service, following standardized recipes, and cooking to order. The role requires strong knife skills, knowledge of sanitation, and the ability to work both in teams and independently.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 1 year of cook experience or 2 years in food service, with state food safety certification due within 90 days. Mercyhealth offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One year of experience as a cook or two years of experience in food service department preferred. Graduate of vocational school, or culinary program preferred.
State Food Safety Sanitation Certification per department requirements required within 90 days
Excellent interpersonal / communication skills
Full knowledge of kitchen equipment
Able to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
Ability to communicate with others in a positive manner
Ability to add, subtract divide and multiply all numbers
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurements and volume
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Ability to deal with problems.
Basic computer knowledge needed
Work is performed according to specific procedures and methods, but must be able to make decisions in order to adapt to routine situations.
