Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a kitchen/food service helper to perform daily kitchen and cafeteria duties. The role includes preparing and assembling food, delivering patient trays, operating and sanitizing equipment, washing dishes, and replenishing supplies. Flexibility for weekends, holidays, and overtime is required.

Schedule is varied with opportunities to work in different areas as needed. High school diploma preferred, with strong customer service and cash handling skills a plus.

• Excellent customer service skills needed when delivering patient trays.
• Operates cash register and handles transactions.

Responsibilities

• Reads patient tray ticket orders and places items on trays.
• Delivers/serves patient trays, snacks and supplements; assist patients with opening items.
• Collects patient trays, stacks dirty dishes on cart and returns cart to kitchen.
• Performs daily/weekly cleaning tasks; washes and sanitizes dishes, pots and pans.
• Maybe required to filter hot oil with mesh strainer and/or change oil in fryers.
• Operates cash register and portions food items as directed.
• Replenishes stock with proper rotation; takes and records food & equipment temperatures.
• Cleans and sanitizes work area, tables, and cabinets; collects garbage.
• Follows scripting when delivering patient trays; adheres to safety and sanitation regulations.

Prepares and assembles food, delivers and retrieves patient meal trays, operates and sanitizes kitchen equipment, washes dishes and pots and pans, and replenishes supplies. Maintains clean work areas and performs cashier duties as needed. Works effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintains flexibility to work alternate shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and assigned areas based on department and system needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads patient tray ticket orders and places items on trays.
• Delivers / serves patient trays, snack and supplements Assist patients with opening any items
• Collects patient trays from room, stacks dirty dishes on cart and returns cart to kitchen
• Performs daily / weekly cleaning tasks
• Washes and sanitizes dishes, pots and pans, and kitchen equipment
• Maybe required to filter hot oil with mesh strainer and/or change oil in fryers
• Operates cash register
