Job summary

HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support meal preparation and service for visitors, staff and patients in a busy hospital cafeteria. You will perform routine duties related to food prep, serving, dishwashing and kitchen upkeep.

This role emphasizes safety, sanitation and following standard precautions with PPE. You will work as part of a professional team, contribute to patient care and community well-being, and enjoy benefits designed to support you.

• You will prepare food for cooking by washing, peeling, shredding, slicing, and mixing various food items.
• You will operate dishwasher or assist with washing/sterilizing dishes, glassware, silverware, utensils, pots, pans, etc.
• You will clean kitchen work areas, collect and dispose of garbage.
• You will assist with food stocking.
• You will serve food in cafeteria for visitors and staff and in patient room.
• You will work in the dish room when needed.
• You will work on patient tray assembly line following menu directives for determining food items for each tray.
• You will follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
