Job summary

Hollis Elementary School is seeking a part-time Food Service Assistant for 4 hours daily (10:15am-2:15pm). Responsibilities include preparing and serving meals, assisting with cleaning, and ensuring sanitation in a school kitchen. The position operates under the cafeteria team and supports students and staff during lunch service.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, be able to lift up to 25 pounds, and read/ follow recipes. A CHRC is required if offered.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CHRC required if offered.
• Experience: School food service experience is a plus.
• Physical: Lift up to 25 pounds; stand up to 6+ hours on a kitchen floor.
• Good math skills are a must.
• Weight scales and sanitation knowledge a plus.
• Able to read and follow a recipe.
• Willing to learn and run the Computerized Accountability System.
• Excellent team worker.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Preparing and serving food (may include cooking and baking).
• Assisting with cleaning the kitchen, serving, and eating areas.
• Maintaining all applicable health and sanitation standards.
• Operating a Computerized Accountability System.
• Attending staff training as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) is required if offered the position.
• Experience: Prior successful school Food Service experience is a plus.
• Physical Requirements: Evidence of ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds, stand for periods of time as long as 6+ hours on a cement/tile kitchen floor, work in a potentially hot and humid environment.
• Good math skills are a must.
• Knowledge of weight scales and sanitation is a plus.
• Ability to read and follow a recipe.
• Must be willing to learn and run a Computerized Accountability System.
• Excellent team worker.

Wage Scale: $21.88 - $25.75 per hour based on experience.
