Job summary

Kent State University on Kent Campus seeks a Food Service Worker I to assist in food preparation and service. Performs setup, serving, portioning, and everyday kitchen tasks under supervision, with duties spanning cleanup, stock, and basic records.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, follow sanitation standards, and operate kitchen equipment, with evening hours as part of the schedule. A Level Two health certification is required during probation.

Qualifications

• Prior experience or completion of vocational education in food prep and service.
• Must obtain Ohio Dept of Health Level Two Food Protection certification during probation.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and follow sanitation standards.
• Read and follow production sheets; perform basic math and record data.

Responsibilities

• Set up and tear down service lines; serve, portion, wrap, and dress food items.
• Prepare vegetables, fruits, sandwiches, salads, desserts and beverages.
• Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment; maintain floors and restrooms.
• Inform supervisor of equipment, supply and food needs; help with inventory.
• Assist cooks; train student employees; may participate in training new staff.
• Perform related duties as required.
