Job summary

The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a Food Support Worker at the Volusia Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Daytona Beach. You will prepare, cook and serve meals for youth and staff in a secure facility, following prescribed menus and diet orders.

This full-time position requires shift work, overtime, and adherence to food safety and HACCP guidelines. Minimum age 19, one year of food service experience or a vocational/technical program, and the ability to stand, lift and work

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to operate equipment required for the position.
• Ability to stand for long periods, perform heavy lifting, pulling and squatting.
• Basic mathematical skills (measuring, portioning, calculations).

Responsibilities

• Storage, preparation and serving of food to youth and staff in a secure facility.
• Prepare and cook all foods to recipes and pull sheets; adhere to diets.
• Follow set menus or diet orders and fill meals accurately.
• Set up and break down the food service line as assigned.
• Perform general cleaning duties in kitchen, storage, dish room and line.
• Record temperature logs, storage and production records for Child Nutrition Programs.
• Assist in inventory of food, supplies and equipment as needed.
