Position Summary
Manteno School District is seeking Food Service Employees to join our team. The ideal candidate will work in our District kitchens supporting food preparation, service, and daily kitchen operations. This role includes maintaining sanitation standards, managing inventory, and providing excellent service to students and staff.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to complete and pass a lift test
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- Willingness to complete 2 Hour Food Handler Certification
- Knowledge of methods and materials used in food preparation and serving
- Knowledge of standard safety practices related to food service
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment, utensils, and measurements
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced conditions
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform basic math (counting, adding, subtracting, making change accurately)
- Any combination of training and/or experience that demonstrates required knowledge and abilities
- Demonstrated dependability and cleanliness
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach
- Ability to work in environments with extreme heat and cold and moderate to moderately high noise levels
Responsibilities
- Serve a variety of foods in large quantities
- Receive and store food and supplies
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and proper equipment care
- Clean carts, pots, pans, utensils, and work areas
- Operate a computer and food service program
- Perform cashier duties
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of student, family, and staff information
- Work collaboratively with co-workers and school staff
- Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral growth
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and educational standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor
