Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sanitation Technician to join our third shift team at our Humboldt, TN facility. This role is critical in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety in our production environment. The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently during overnight hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment, floors, walls, and other facility areas in accordance with company and regulatory standards (FDA, USDA, SQF).
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment for deep cleaning as required.
- Operate sanitation equipment such as pressure washers, foamers, and chemical dispensers.
- Accurately mix and use cleaning chemicals following safety guidelines and SDS documentation.
- Complete sanitation logs and documentation to ensure compliance with internal and external audits.
- Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and confined space protocols.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding sanitation issues or equipment concerns.
- Support cross-functional teams during pre-operational inspections and audits.
Essential Skills
- Experience with sanitation processes including cleaning and sanitizing food processing equipment and facilities.
- Ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment for deep cleaning and maintenance.
- Understanding and application of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety protocols, including Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems.
- Competence in handling and mixing cleaning chemicals safely and in compliance with OSHA and FDA regulations.
- Capability to maintain sanitation logs and inspection records to support audits and regulatory compliance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring such as pathogen swabbing and allergen control.
- Experience with label/package verification and foreign material control.
- Understanding of USDA, FDA, and FSMA standards.
- Familiarity with certifications such as SQF, BRC, GFSI, and AIB.
- Experience in food science, GMP, cleaning, laboratory, quality assurance, chemical handling, manufacturing environment, and food safety.
- Physical readiness for lifting, standing, and working in cold/wet environments.
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, and attention to detail.
- Bilingual skills are optional but valuable.
Work Environment
The work environment involves working overnight hours on the third shift, ensuring cleanliness and food safety in a production setting. The role requires physical readiness for lifting, standing, and working in cold/wet environments. You will utilize technologies such as sweepers, scrubbers, pressure washers, and chemical agents in adherence to company standards.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
