Universal Pure in Lincoln, NE is seeking an experienced FSQA Supervisor to guide technicians, monitor production quality, and uphold GMP/HACCP standards in a wet/cold production facility.

Job description

Our Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor will provide guidance, coach, and train our technicians to ensure that they deliver maximum quality in a profitable manner while upholding quality control standards. Your duties will include monitoring employees, organizing workflows, analyzing the efficiency of manufacturing processes, performing product testing, ensuring standards are maintained, ensuring product integrity is preserved, and ensuring our inbound and outbound products meet all quality control and safety standards. The Quality Assurance Supervisor must have, or achieve within a reasonable timeframe, certification in SQF, HAACP, and GMP programs and equipment.

Major tasks, responsibilities, and key accountabilities:
  • Assists the FSQA Management in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Program instructions.
  • Work with Production Managers, Supervisors, and Leads to monitor and document the food safety and food quality of raw and finished products; report any deviation from quality of service that may become a potential liability.
  • Supervises the time and production records as required.
  • Ensures product is processed to the company's HACCP/HARPC programs.
  • Informs Food Safety and Quality Assurance Management of ANY food safety.
  • Implements and manages food safety corrective actions.
  • Prioritizes and performs position responsibilities accurately and to deadline.
  • Provides assistance to local and corporate management in carrying out changes to the food safety system of the facility, giving assistance in creating, reviewing, authenticating, and maintaining food safety system documents, including standard operating procedures and programs, working in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team; aids in maintaining document registers and documentation.
  • Provides daily monitoring of FSQA personnel to ensure compliance with the food safety system of the facility; performs or directs those performing formal audits on GMP.
  • Ensures training of facility personnel on GMP's, Risk Preventive Controls, Hazard Analysis, Pre-requisite programs, and other applicable food safety system elements as required.
  • Safely keeps records of all facility analytical results; immediately reports results discovered to be out of specification to the FSQA Manager.
  • Keeps documented reports of analytical results submitted to FSQA Manager, also responsible for tracking and reporting data trends.
  • Responsible for FSQA Techs inspecting raw materials coming in; investigates non-conformance and complaints about product; and provides leadership for the facility team in performing self-audits.
  • Responsible for hosting visitors to the facility with the Plant Manager, including regulatory agency representatives and customer representatives.
  • Knows and understands the applicable FDA regulations and GMPs.
  • Possesses an innovative, resourceful, and proactive disposition, committed to ensuring continuous improvement of capacity and quality service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related (biology, microbiology, or food science)
  • Must have, or achieve within a reasonable timeframe, certification in SQF, HAACP, and GMP programs and equipment.
  • Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Supervision, including employee hiring and retention, performance review, and discipline.
  • Knows and understands the applicable FDA regulations and GMP’s.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of QA leadership experience required, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a USDA and/or FDA food manufacturing/processing environment is strongly desired.
  • Quality Assurance Certification in SQF, HACCP, and GMP
  • Good computer skills, including Word and Excel
  • Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations
  • Ability to manage time effectively, including consistently being on time to work, meetings, and training sessions
  • An ability to manage multiple priorities
Working Conditions
  • This position will be performed both within our office environment and our production floor, which is a wet/cold environment (around 35 degrees F) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production type facility. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures
  • This is largely a static role with standing; however, the ability to perform repetitive bending and standing up is also required. This would require the ability to lift 10-35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally. Depending on the area, you must also be able to push/pull up to 250 lbs. on rollers occasionally.

Universal Pure facilities may process, pack, and store products containing allergenic food ingredients as referenced by the FDA. Team members who may come in direct contact must be able to work with these ingredients.
