Job summary

Universal Pure in Lincoln, Nebraska, is seeking a FSQA technician to guide production teams on food safety, perform GMP audits, and ensure HACCP compliance during the third shift. You will train staff, collect and document product samples, report out-of-spec results to QA, host auditors, maintain SOPs, and drive continuous improvement while working in a cold, wet manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor facility daily for GMP compliance and perform audits.
  • Train personnel on GMPs, risk controls, HACCP/HARPC, and related elements.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections.
  • Collect and document product samples and analysis data.
  • Report out-of-spec results to QA supervisor promptly.
  • Host visitors/auditors and support external reviews.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness and SOP/documentation standards.
  • Assist in implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and coordinate with QA team.
  • Support changes to food safety system documentation.

Position Purpose:

The FSQA technician provides guidance and leadership to production personnel regarding food safety measures and practices. Ensures all customer concerns and or complaints are handled with extreme professionalism and care. Applies available tools and resources for reaching desired outcome with food specifications and production.

Shift: Third Shift
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Major tasks, responsibilities, and key accountabilities:
  • Provide daily monitoring of facility and personnel to ensure compliance with the food safety system of the facility; perform formal audit on GMPs
  • Ensure training of facility personnel on GMPs, risk preventive controls, hazard analysis, pre-requisite programs, and other applicable food safety system elements as required
  • Responsible for pre-operational inspections
  • Collect and analyze product samples as required, as well as document information derived from analysis
  • Safely keep records of all facility analytical results; immediately report results discovered to be out of specification to the QA supervisor
  • Provide documented reports of analytical results to the QA supervisor, also responsible for tracking and reporting data trends
  • Inspecting raw materials coming in; assisting in investigating non-conformance and complaint about product; and provide leadership for the facility team in performing self-audits
  • Aid in hosting visitors to the facility, including regulatory agency representatives and customer representatives, function as main host for the facility’s third-party auditors
  • Ensure product is processed to company HACCP/HARPC programs
  • Inform Quality Assurance Management of any food safety concerns
  • Implementing and manage food safety corrective actions
  • Provide assistance to local and corporate management in carrying out changes to the food safety system of the facility; give assistance in creating, reviewing, authenticating, and maintaining food safety system documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and programs working in collaboration with the quality assurance team; provide assistance in maintaining document registers and documentation
  • Possess innovative, resourceful, and proactive disposition, committed to ensuring continuous improvement of capacity and delivering quality service
  • Ability to prioritize and perform position responsibilities accurately and to deadline
  • Follow health, safety, and cleanliness standards
  • Handle any other duties as assigned by QA supervisor and QA manager
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality for an hourly role

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior quality assurance experience preferred
  • Food manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable FDA regulations and GMPs preferred
  • Experience performing administrative work, including completing and reconciling paperwork, preferred
Qualifications:

Working Conditions
  • This is largely a static role with standing; however, the ability to perform repetitive bending and standing up is also required. This would require the ability to lift 10-35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally. Must also be able to push/pull up to 250 lbs on rollers occasionally.
  • This role operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (around 35 degrees F) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production type facility. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for the duration of the shift.
