Job Title: Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Location: Cranbury, NJ
Type: Direct Hire
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours: M-F 8 AM- 4 PM

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating food safety and quality systems while ensuring compliance with SQF, FDA, and other regulatory requirements. This role oversees all regulatory documentation related to production and quality processes, including HACCP, GMP, and food safety records. Collaborating with all departments, the specialist ensures documentation is accurate, up to date, and supports continuous improvement in food safety and quality standards.

  • Review, scan, and file all production and quality-related documents, including job cards, manufacturing reports, batch records, and quality audits. Ensure documents are up-to-date, accurate, and in compliance with SQF & FDA requirements.
  • Review all production/quality control documents for completeness and accuracy. Maintain and track errors to minimize issues.
  • Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food safety and quality systems. Regularly assess and update processes as needed. Create KPI reports when needed.
  • Support the maintenance and review of key food safety and quality systems, including pest control, sanitation, GMP, and internal auditing.
  • Conduct and lead internal audits of the facility to ensure adherence to GMP, SQF and food safety standards. Assist in implementing corrective actions and monitoring follow-ups.
  • Manage and maintain employee training records per the Employee Training Matrix.
  • Provide back-up support for releasing Certificates of Analysis (COAs) in the ERP system
  • Participate and assist in any food registration, audits, annual subscriptions
  • Manage customer interactions ensuring all regulatory and customer requests are accurately completed and submitted on time. Handle all customer inquiries related to documentation and product information with efficiency and precision.
  • Manage new suppliers and vendors by requesting, reviewing, and approving required documentation. Serve as the quality approver for items and vendors, collaborating with R&D and Purchasing to ensure compliance. Maintain up-to-date records and ensure all documents are accurately filed for easy accessibility.
  • Generate reports as needed for food safety and quality-related systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory and internal standards (shelf life cGMP, Newsletters, Monthly KPI..etc)
  • Manage facility licenses, ensuring they remain up to date, properly filed, and correctly posted in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum requirement of an Associate Degree.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in food or regulated industry with knowledge of SQF, HACCP and GMP’s.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint…etc.
  • PCQI training is required.
  • Internal Auditing Certification is required.
  • SQF Certification is a plus.
