Job summary

SafetyFresh Foods is seeking a Food Safety and Quality Manager to own and drive the food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation programs across the site. You will lead audits, coordinate CAPA, and partner with Operations and senior leadership to foster a strong food safety culture.

You will manage regulatory relations with USDA, FDA, and local authorities, develop and improve documentation, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to support company growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in QA, food science, biology, microbiology, engineering, operations management, or related field.
• Technical knowledge of food safety and quality.
• Knowledge of GFSi audit schemes and the GFSI audit process.
• Experience dealing with regulatory agencies (USDA, FDA, and BRC) and knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations.
• Hands on experience supporting or managing Organic certification programs.
• Experience with BRC issue 9.
• 5–7 years experience in Quality Assurance or Food Safety Leadership.
• 3–5 years experience in management handling (hire, termination, discipline, training/development, employee relations, mediation, retention).
• Produce experience preferred.
• HACCP and PCQI certification preferred.
• Bilingual English & Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the site Food Safety and Quality Management System (HACCP, GMPs, SOPS, SSOPs) and training programs.
• Lead audits for third-party, customers, and regulatory audits (BRC, Organic) and coordinate CAPA.
• Coordinate audit preparation, corrective actions, root cause analysis and verification of effectiveness.
• Act as liaison with regulatory agencies and customers on safety and quality matters.
• Maintain traceability, mock recalls, crisis management procedures, and food defense programs.
• Develop, maintain, and improve quality and food safety documentation and policies.
• Conduct internal audits and trend analysis to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Lead investigations into quality deviations, complaints, and non-conformances using CAPA and root cause methodologies.
• Analyze testing data and process control metrics to drive corrective actions; collect samples.
• Evaluate and implement food safety and quality software solutions.
• Promote a strong food safety culture and cross-functional collaboration.
• Partner with Operations to align Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery; advise Senior Management.
• Provide executive summaries of risks, trends and recommendations.
• Support customer quality requirements, specifications and inspections.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
