Qualifications

• Certificate of registration as sanitarian or eligible to become sanitarian-in-training.
• Four year degree with coursework in food science, environmental health, biology, chemistry, physics, geology, physical sciences, food technology, epidemiology or related field.
• Six months of personal computer experience and a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Collects samples and conducts inspection, evaluation, investigation & surveillance of food, cosmetics, OTC drugs, and hemp for compliance with state/federal laws.
• Prepares technical reports and compares local health department performance to procedures and guidelines.
• Provides expert advice to industries and local health departments on food safety issues and conducts training.
