Location Description

Our plant, located in Lansing, IL, pasteurizes raw eggs to remove harmful bacteria for a more safe product to the foodservice industry.


Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Food Safety Coordinator maintains the documentation critical for the Quality Systems, HACCP and Food Safety and quality Plans and SQF Programs. This position is also back up for the FSQ techs and assists FSQ Manager with verifying that programs are being executed properly. FSQ coordinator position is also responsible for maintaining food safety and quality related documents ensuring quality, Holds, sanitation (SSOPs) and production records are legible, accurate, complete, maintained, and easily retrievable for customer and Food Safety and Quality audits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure quality, sanitation, and production records are legible, accurate, complete, maintained, and easily retrievable.
  2. Maintain quality related manuals and records (i.e. SQF training, daily Quality records, pest control documentation, etc.), HACCP/Preventive control documents.
  3. Assist in investigations in response to customer concerns or other quality related deviations to determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions.
  4. Maintain FSQ, Sanitation documents- legible, updated.
  5. Assist in SQF, 3rd party audits, regulatory inspections, plant inspections, mock recalls.
  6. Reviewing, maintaining documents – SOPs.
  7. Assist in the management of quality hold activities, including non-conforming product inventories.
  8. Reporting holds- in plant, rework updates and managing Chex, holds records.
  9. Assist in developing SOPs, SSOPs.
  10. Managing EMP- Swabs, locations- updates and corrective actions.
  11. Fill-in for other QA Techs in their absence (all 3 shifts).
  12. Must be able to work weekends and overtime as necessary.
  13. Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Quality Certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  1. One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  2. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  3. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  4. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations.
  5. Ability to respond to questions from internal- at all levels including management.
  6. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  7. Knowledge or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of positions.
  8. Proficient communication skills.
  9. Knowledge of company and regulatory policies, procedures, and philosophies.
  10. Proficient organizational and time management skills.
  11. Basic proficiency using computer programs (MS Office) for collecting and analyzing data and writing procedures and reports.
  12. Basic proficiency using statistical and quality related problem-solving tools.
  13. Demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking and problem-solving.
  14. Ability to participate in cross-functional teams.
  15. Data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  16. Basic administrative duties.
  17. Skill in working with computers and experience with spreadsheet and word-processing software.
  18. Fluency in a language other than English- Preferable- Spanish.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Examples of licenses, certificates, and registrations required within first 6 months to a year of employment.

The pay range for this position is $40,016 - $54,421 per year.
