Job summary

Loffredo-Fresh-Foods is seeking a Food Safety Coordinator in Des Moines, IA to lead safety programs across production and distribution. The role focuses on developing and maintaining programs that meet federal and local requirements and protect consumer safety.

You'll coordinate with QA, production, and supply chain, conduct audits, train teams, and document compliance efforts to strengthen the company's reputation and ensure ongoing regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Nutrition, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related role within the food industry.
• Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, HACCP, and GMP.
• Experience conducting food safety audits and managing compliance documentation.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively train and collaborate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain food safety policies and procedures in accordance with FDA, USDA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with food safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
• Coordinate and lead food safety training programs for employees at all levels to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
• Investigate and respond to food safety incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure raw materials meet safety and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records related to food safety activities, audits, and compliance reports.
• Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to continuously enhance the food safety program.
