Summary: The Food Safety and Quality Manager is responsible for consistent quality of production by maintaining, improving, and enforcing good manufacturing practice (GMP) systems; validating processes; providing documentation and managing staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and improve company food safety and quality program manual in compliance with FDA’s regulations, HACCP, SQF and GMP requirements.

2. Interact with owner, agencies, subcontractors, and internal departments on food safety and quality related matters including performance activities such as audits, program setup, program planning etc.

3. Report to Glenn Wayne Executive Management daily pertaining to daily operations and observations.

4. Perform activities such as audits, preparation of company standards, notification to management of food safety and quality problems, etc.

5. Responsible for training, and supervising Quality Assurance Technicians. Perform activities such as audits, program setup, program planning etc.

6. Provide administrative and technical direction to all departments. This includes personnel administration, resolution of technical problems, development/approval of in-house training, etc.

7. Ensure company standards as outlined in the quality manual are effectively maintained and improved.

8. Ensure adequate corrective measures are maintained and improved in cases of noncompliance.

9. Maintain and improve food safety and quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses. Identify critical control points and preventive measures. Establish critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification/validation procedures.

10. Verify quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring, documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification and writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

11. Responsible for training staff in Food safety, MP, GMP, SQF, HACCP and Allergen Management.

12. Meet daily with the Plant Manager to identify any potential issues.

13. Weekly swab testing in the outlet store to assure proper Food Safety regulations are being followed.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, the Quality Assurance Manager must be able to function in a fast-paced environment with the ability to keep up with changing responsibilities and priorities. This position requires experience in supervising people. The Food Safety Manager should possess the following:

Education/Experience:

4-year College Degree (BS/BA) preferred with a Major in the sciences.

5+ years' experience in the food industry, baking experience preferred.

5+ years supervisory experience.

Have experience with the use of Microsoft Office programs.

Must be HACCP certified, Food Defense certified and be an SQF Practitioner.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend English. Ability to write business professional correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations within the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Good knowledge of the metric system, formula, recipe conversions working with excel formulas.
