Black Point Inn in Scarborough, ME seeks a Dining Room Food Runner / Busser to support our Food & Beverage team. You will help servers by delivering and clearing dishes, and by assisting with table setups, water service, and guest comfort during service hours.

The role requires a friendly, team-oriented individual who can handle busy periods, follow safety guidelines, and communicate clearly with guests and colleagues. Training provided. This is a full-time on-site position.

TITLE: DINING ROOM FOOD RUNNER / BUSSER

DEPARTMENT: FOOD & BEVERAGE

REPORTS TO: FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER/RESTAURANTMANAGER/DINING ROOM MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

Working as a member of our Food & Beverage Team, ensurethat guests have an enjoyable dining experience by providing support for DiningRoom Servers. Responsibilities can include setting and resetting tables,serving food, clearing tables, refilling water glasses, carrying trays, stocking/cleaningdining and service areas and courteously interacting with guests. Workclosely with Restaurant Management, Kitchen Staff and Food & Beveragepersonnel to help guarantee our guests a dining experience which exceeds theirexpectations.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain a neatand professional appearance with a properly cleaned uniform.
  • Greet guestswarmly and speak with enthusiasm at all times.
  • Be prepared to answerbasic questions about menu items and food preparation.
  • Be abletoanswer basic questions about alcoholic and non-alcoholicbeverageservices; understand regulatory responsibilities regardingservice of alcoholic beverages.
  • Correctlydeliver food and beverage to tables as relayed by Servers in an efficientmanner following appropriate table service techniques.
  • Be able todetermine when guests have finished meals, clearing tables in an efficient mannerfollowing appropriate table service techniques.
  • Understandreporting requirements for tips.
  • Ability tosafely operate restaurant equipment including, but not limited to coffeemakers, refrigeration, juice machines, bread warmers, soup warmers, toasters,and other basic kitchen equipment and appliances, etc.
  • Handle andcommunicate guest requests and complaints in a professional manner. Knowwho to contact with these issues.
  • Complete side workas assigned (resetting tables, stocking supplies, cleaning, etc.)
  • Participate inset up, execution, andclean-upof banquet functions as outlined inBanquet Event Orders/Event Sheets and as directed by Sales &CateringManager/Dining Room Manager
  • Maintain foodsafety, service station and personal cleanliness and sanitation standards asrequired by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and OSHA, as wellas general maintenance and upkeep of dining room/restaurant.
  • Know who tonotify in case of broken equipment or unsafe/unsanitary conditions.
  • Must be able tomanually handle/lift/carry product up to 60 pounds between knee andshoulders.
  • Must havebilateral fine manipulation of both hands which may be repetitive for entireshift.
  • Must bevertically mobile working in limited space for entire shift.
  • Protect theassets of this property and Migis Hotel Group.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be eligibleto work in the United States of America.
  • Ability tocommunicate in English with guests and employees, some of whom will requirehigh levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to workas a part of a team.
  • Ability tounderstand verbal directions, as well as written menus, labels on foods andchemicals, and other workplace safety signage.
  • Active listeningand observation skills.
  • Knowledge of commonfood allergies and understanding of cross-contamination issues.
  • Outgoingpersonality, with good oral comprehension, expression, and speechclarity.
  • Ability to workunder pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Frequentwalking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting, manual dexterity andrepetitive motions. May require the ability to work on uneven outdoorsurfaces.
  • Occasional stairclimbing.
  • Working in avariety of temperatures and conditions both indoors and out.
  • Schedule variesaccording to operational needs; may include early mornings, evenings, weekends,holidays, and split-shifts.
  • Frequenthand-washing.
  • Hazards include,but are not limited to cuts from knives, lifting injuries, burns, slips, andtripping.
