The Club

Purpoodock Club is a private 18-hole club located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Founded in 1922, it is the premier golf and dining club in the Casco Bay area. We have an active membership in excess of 1,000 individual members.

This position pays a fixed hourly rate PLUS a fixed percentage of revenues which meets minimum wage standards for Portland, ME.

Hours of operation is 11:00 am to 8:00 pm daily. During the off-season, the restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Job Summary

Join our dedicated team as a Food Runner/Busser. This role will deliver exceptional service by delivering meals to dining members and assisting restaurant staff by clearing, cleaning and resetting tables as necessary.

Your friendly demeanor and attention to detail will help create memorable moments for our members while supporting the seamless operation of our restaurant. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your hospitality skills in a lively, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and assist with seating arrangements, providing a welcoming atmosphere from the moment they arrive
• Serve food promptly and accurately while maintaining presentation standards; support restaurant staff delivering dishes swiftly from the kitchen to tables while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
• Assist with bussing tables, cleaning work areas, and ensuring cleanliness in compliance with sanitation regulations
• Provide excellent guest relations by responding promptly to requests and resolving any concerns professionally

Requirements

• Previous food service experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is highly preferred, especially casual and fine dining environments
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly, energetic attitude and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
• Basic food handling and safety knowledge aligned with sanitation standards in the food industry
• Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy service periods
• Experience with food preparation or kitchen operations is beneficial but not required
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as bussing tables or assisting guests comfortably
