Job summary

Art & Jake's Sports Bar in Washington, DC seeks a Food Runner to rapidly deliver kitchen orders to tables and maintain an orderly expo line. You will coordinate with the BOH team and ensure carries-out are expedited efficiently.

The role requires standing for long periods, multitasking, and delivering courteous service in a high-volume environment. Training and growth opportunities are offered along with a team-focused atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant experience preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, and carry food trays for prolonged periods.
• Courteous, friendly, and professional demeanor; listen and respond to guests.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain knowledge of all menus including carryout and catering.
• Ensure guests have what they need after delivery of food.
• Keep tables, expo line, and station clean and organized.
• Polish and stock utensils and knives; assist servers, bartenders, and managers.
• Communicate orders to chefs, noting priorities and allergies.
• Work calmly under pressure and promote teamwork.

Job Summary

The Food Runner is primarily responsible for delivering food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately. It is this person who will maintain the cleanliness of the expo line, organization of order tickets, and communicate effectively with BOH team. The Food Runner will also be responsible for the initial expediting of carryout orders.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of all food menus including carryout and catering menus
• Assure guests have everything they need on the tables after delivery of food.
• Ensures guest has proper silverware, napkin, share plates when delivering food.
• Keep kitchen station clean and organized.
• Utensils & steak knives polished and stocked.
• Assist all servers, bartenders, and managers with carrying of plates.
• Communicate effectively and courteously with guests, and co-workers.
• Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g., food allergies)
• Perform calmly and effectively under stressful conditions.
• Promote an atmosphere of teamwork by assisting co-workers.
