Job description

Job Summary

Monitor Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) support/evaluation programs and inspection/audit procedures to ensure compliance of products and processes with corporate and regulatory requirements at a Sysco Specialty Meat and/or Seafood Company.

Responsibilities

1. Monitor FSQA programs including HACCP, sanitation SOPs, pest control, GMPs, approved supplier program, foreign material control, plant sanitation, chemical control, product quality assurance, FSQA customer complaints, food defense, and security.
2. Assist in employee training of FSQA programs, policies, and procedures.
3. Assist in implementation of the independent FSQA audit program — SQF audits.
4. Support product evaluations, plant visits, and communication with suppliers and customers; assist other staff and respond to emergencies as directed by the plant President or GM.
5. Interact regularly with SSMC/SSSC personnel, operations, sales, transportation, maintenance, Sysco operating companies, and supplier/customer personnel at the line level.

Qualifications

Education

• Formal training in TQM, SPC, HACCP, CFIA/FDA regulations is beneficial.
• Training in quality and sensory analysis is helpful.

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in the meat and/or seafood industry at a federal CFIA/FDA processing plant.
• Experience solely in raw meat or seafood industry will be accepted.

Professional Skills

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and present information effectively.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, units of measure.
• Problem-solving skills: data collection and fact establishment.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions.
• Proficiency with computers, lab and food prep equipment, and office communication tools.

Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations

• Valid driver's license.

Physical Demands

• Regular communication, manual handling, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, smelling.
• Occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
• Visual requirements for sensory analysis and safety inspections.
• Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, mechanical hazards, and variable environmental conditions.
