Job summary

Bento Sushi in Fullerton, CA is seeking a Food Production Supervisor to manage daily plant operations, oversee Production and QA teams, and drive lean improvements for efficiency and quality.

The role requires strong supervisory experience in food manufacturing, knowledge of HACCP and quality systems, and bilingual English/Spanish communication. Flexible shifts and a focus on continuous improvement are essential.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience or 4 years as a lead in manufacturing.
• Experience with quality systems and knowledge of HACCP, Food Safety Programs, and Six Sigma preferred.
• Must be reliable, responsible, and proactive with initiative to advance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day production operations to ensure smooth, efficient processes.
• Supervise Production and Quality Assurance team leaders.
• Promote lean manufacturing, improve productivity, and maximize yield.
• Ensure products meet quality and food-safety standards and report issues.
• Train and coach staff to meet productivity targets and standards.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs and delays.

Location

• California Food Factory:1850 Raymer Ave, Fullerton, CA, 92283 (N. Gilbert St and W. Commonwealth Ave.)
• We are a 24/7 operation and have opening in all shifts:
  • 1st Shift, starting at 5:00 am
  • 2nd Shift, starting at 2:00 pm
  • 3rd Shift, starting at 10:00 pm

Responsibilities

Join our growing team as the Food Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the plant to ensure the production process is running smoothly and efficiently, and supervising various department Team Leaders, including Production and Quality Assurance. This will include optimizing production with a lean mindset, productivity, maximizing yield, accurate reporting and ensuring the highest quality for our customers.

• Monitors and guarantees that products are being manufactured in conformance with manufacturing and food safety practices.
• Works closely with QA to identify departmental and kitchen issues.
• Supervises the daily activities to ensure proper Food Safety and Quality.
• Reviews and updates work aids essential for verification of product quality.
• Responsible for managing the overall daily production process.
• Trains and coaches the team to meet defined productivity targets.
• Assists with identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives.
• Previews production and operating reports and resolves operational manufacturing and maintenance problems, to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
• Develops and works with supervisors in all areas such as problem-solving, setting and achieving goals, manufacturing processes, scheduling and equipment problems.
• Training and cross-training all employees on the production line, evaluate and review production staff, and recommend/initiate disciplinary actions.
• Encourages and promotes a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
• Assists in special projects and generates a summary of the project’s performance.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment required, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent combinations of related education and/or experience may be considered.
• Experience with quality systems and knowledge of statistics, HACCP, Food Safety Programs, and Six Sigma is preferred.
• Must be reliable, responsible, and proactive with the initiative to take the next level.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish required.
• Ability to work in a cold refrigerated environment.
• The location operates 7 days a week. Successful candidates must have flexible availability to work various shifts and weekends.
