Job summary

ApplicantPool is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve processing, packaging, refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical equipment in a sweet potato processing plant.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-minded, dependable, and able to diagnose and repair equipment in a fast-paced food-processing environment. You will work closely with production to minimize downtime and ensure safe operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Industrial maintenance or mechanical experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify causes of problems.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a wet, humid, dusty, noisy environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on processing and packaging equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems.
• Repair and maintain conveyors, washers, graders, sorters, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, cutters, peelers, and packaging machinery.
• Diagnose equipment problems and perform repairs safely to minimize downtime.
• Document completed maintenance and keep accurate records.
• Maintain and repair facility systems and equipment safety devices.
• Follow safety procedures and food-safety requirements.
• Assist with equipment installation, modification, and start-up.
