Job summary

Penn State University is seeking a full-time Food Preparer B at the Bryce Jordan Center to prepare, season and cook food according to standardized recipes and procedures, and to perform advance preparation as needed. You will work from menus and recipes, ensuring proper sequence and food safety.

You will train new staff, operate kitchen equipment, and help with storage of leftovers, while maintaining sanitation and correct temperatures.

Qualifications

• Requires basic commercial English, grammar and arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
• Work from recipes, menus and requisitions; interpret schedules and charts.
• Use measuring instruments and follow standardized procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, combine, season and cook food according to standardized recipes and procedures.
• Prepare food in proper sequence for service, check flavor and appearance before serving.
• Coordinate with supervisor on disposition or storage of leftovers.
• Operate and clean kitchen utensils and equipment; report malfunctions.
• Assist in training and supervise other employees as needed.
• Maintain sanitary techniques in preparation, handling and storage of food items.
