Job Summary

The Food Preparation Supervisor oversees food service staff, manages food production and safety, orders supplies, and prepares reports. The role complies with state and federal laws and agency policies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise food service staff, including hiring, training, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance.
  2. Develop and deliver in-service training on policies, procedures, and equipment.
  3. Prepare and cook various foods, including for special occasions.
  4. Collaborate on menu and recipe planning, considering ingredient availability and customer volume.
  5. Ensure food quality and safety standards are met by inspecting raw and cooked products.
  6. Check received supplies for quality and quantity.
  7. Demonstrate cooking techniques and equipment to staff.
  8. Estimate supplies and costs required for operations.
  9. Inspect storage areas and work environments for sanitation and safety compliance.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of food preservation, storage, and preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of menus, nutritional needs, and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to supervise food service staff and inspect shipments.
  • Skill in estimating food quantities and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience in institutional or commercial food service, including one year in a supervisory role. Additional qualifications may be reviewed and approved by the Office of Personnel Management.
