Job summary

The Condado Collection in San Juan, Puerto Rico, seeks a dedicated Dishwasher to maintain cleanliness and sanitation across kitchen and service areas, supporting a fast-paced hospitality team.

You will operate the dishwashing machine, hand-wash delicate items, and assist kitchen staff during busy periods, while upholding safety standards and professional appearance. Flexibility to work weekends/holidays and bilingual Spanish/English required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role preferred.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to bend, squat, reach, and lift up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of china, glassware, and utensils.
• Keep kitchen and service areas organized and ready for operation.
• Operate and troubleshoot the dishwashing machine.
• Hand-wash delicate items when necessary.
• Assist kitchen staff during peak periods and maintain timely dish turnaround.
• Ensure items are dry and properly stored after washing.

Key Responsibilities

• The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, and other kitchen equipment using machine and manual cleaning methods.
• Ensures the kitchen and service areas are kept clean, organized, and ready for efficient operation.
• Operates dishwashing machine to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Hand-washes delicate items and larger kitchen tools as necessary.
• Ensures all washed items are spotless, free of food particles, and properly dried before storage.
• Properly stores cleaned items in designated areas.
• Maintains cleanliness of dishwashing and kitchen areas, including sweeping and mopping floors.
• Organizes and restocks cleaning supplies as needed.
• Assists kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks during busy periods.
• Disposes of kitchen waste and garbage according to the restaurant standards.
• Ensures all equipment and facilities are used and maintained safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Works closely with kitchen and service staff to ensure timely turnaround of dishware and utensils.
• Communicates effectively with team members to maintain smooth operations and address any issues promptly.
• Participates in team meetings and training sessions as required.
• Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to the supervisor.
• Complete safety training and certifications.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to reach common goals.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Hospitality oriented
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
• Basic understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation standards
• Must be able to bend, squat, stand for long periods, stretch, reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and lift-up to 60 pounds.
• Should work well under pressure, even with minimal supervision
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to communicate in Spanish and English.
