Heartland Food Products Group is offering a Summer Intern position in the Food Microbiology Laboratory in Indianapolis. The role provides hands-on experience in an industrial microbiology setting, with opportunities to own a small research project, analyze data, and present findings to the team.

You will learn to handle samples, prepare media, perform sterile technique, and support daily lab operations while adhering to GLPs and GMPs.

Formación

• Currently pursuing a degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or Bacteriology, or recently graduated within 1 year; open to undergraduates and graduates.
• Completed basic college biology or microbiology lab courses with aseptic technique.
• Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Willing to learn from the Senior Microbiologist to understand food microbiology concepts.
• Proficient English and strong communication skills.
• Proficient in Email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Previous experience in a quality or research lab is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Own a basic laboratory research problem, collect and analyze data, and present findings to the lab team at internship end.
• Assist in preparing samples for microbiological analysis using sterile techniques.
• Prepare test solutions, reagents, and culture media as needed.
• Assist with plating, culture transfers, and monitoring of microbial growth.
• Record data and logs in SOPs and data integrity guidelines.
• Test environmental samples for bioburden and indicators.
