Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. operates a food production laboratory to perform chemical, physical, organoleptic, and microbiological tests on in-process and finished products.

This position provides vacation relief for all lab shifts and day-off relief, operating various lab equipment and reporting results to production teams. The role involves ensuring quality and safety during manufacturing, maintaining records in SAP/LIM, and supporting GMP/HACCP programs.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred AA degree or two years of analytical laboratory experience (food manufacturing lab preferred).
• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.
• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must have basic math skills.
• Must have effective verbal and written English language communication skills.
• Must be able to learn required SAP transactions.
• Must be able to work with Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Test and evaluate in-process and finished products using lab equipment and organoleptic evaluations.
• Evaluate finished cheese products for body, texture, and shelf-life characteristics.
• Collect samples from different locations in the plant using aseptic techniques.
• Record test results on forms, SAP, or LIM systems and release batches.
• Collaborate with production to ensure quality and safety.
• Communicate test results to production staff and assist in corrective actions
• Monitor sanitation and GMP compliance in production and packaging areas
• Answer phones professionally and maintain safe working conditions
• Follow DFA GMP and HACCP requirements
