Purity Foods Hawaii is a large local meat company with well-known legacy brands, including Rego's Purity Sausage, Gouvea's Sausage, Hawaiian Sausage Company, and May's Hawaii. We produce and distribute Hawaiian-style meat products including Portuguese Sausage, Kalua Pork, and Teri Burgers. Operating with a lean team of about 16 employees, we use a copacker-based model combined with direct store delivery (DSD) across Hawaii. We are focused on brand optimization, operational excellence, food safety leadership, and scalable growth.
The Role
We are seeking a hands‑on General Manager on Oahu to lead day‑to‑day business operations, drive sales performance, and free ownership from daily operations. This is a high‑impact role for someone who thrives in a lean, owner‑involved food manufacturing and distribution environment. You will oversee overall performance across copacker relationships, production quality, distribution logistics, regulatory compliance, team leadership, and sales, with accountability for both operational results and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overall day‑to‑day operations and drive performance against key business metrics
- Drive sales growth through key account management, customer relationships, new business development, and support of the sales team
- Partner with and support the sales function on demand planning, order fulfillment, promotions, and resolving customer issues related to product availability, quality, or delivery
- Manage copacker partnerships: production scheduling, formulation adherence, quality control, yield tracking, and continuous improvement
- Lead food safety and compliance programs, including pathogen control (e.g., Listeria), HACCP, USDA labeling, recalls, and third‑party audits
- Oversee DSD distribution operations, including routing, inventory, UPC/barcode systems, QuickBooks integration, and perishable product KPIs
- Support sales growth initiatives by ensuring operational readiness for new accounts, promotions, and product launches
- Drive operational metrics: production efficiency, waste reduction, on‑time delivery, and cost control
- Support brand optimization initiatives and new product launches from formulation through commercial production
- Build and manage a high‑accountability team: hiring, training, performance standards, and daily/weekly operating cadences
- Collaborate with ownership on capital projects, equipment needs (e.g., slicing, packaging), process improvements, and broader business priorities
- Maintain strong vendor, regulatory, customer, and sales‑team relationships
Qualifications

- Experience with distribution (DSD or similar), inventory systems, and operational KPIs
- Experience supporting or contributing to sales growth, key account management, or customer relationships in a food or CPG environment
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; comfortable working with formulation, lab results, and production data
- Excellent communication and leadership ability in a lean, hands‑on environment
Preferred
- Background in food processing, sausage, processed meats, or Hawaiian/Pacific food products
- Experience with QuickBooks, barcode/UPC systems, or DSD software
- Track record of improving yields, reducing waste, or scaling operations in a small‑to‑mid‑size company
- Familiarity with Hawaii market dynamics or multi‑island logistics
- Direct sales, key account, or commercial leadership experience in food distribution or manufacturing
- P&L responsibility or broader general management experience
