Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced food expeditor to help keep a smooth workflow between the kitchen and guest tables. You will work in a fast-paced environment to get proper orders out faster and more efficiently.

The expeditor will be responsible for ensuring all food items are plated and take-out orders are packaged according to company standards and quality and according to customer orders. Expeditors must be organized and efficient while remaining professional, polite, and must be able to effectively work high volume peak lunch/dinner times. Assist back and front of house during slow shift periods.

As a food expeditor, you must have excellent communication skills and experience in a restaurant’s hectic setting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Must have an in-depth knowledge of all menu items
  2. Must know how all food items are plated according to company standards and quality (including correct garnish)
  3. Effectively read and communicate tickets to ensure food is prepared in a timely manner
  4. Confirm proper packaging and completeness of all to-go orders
  5. Maintain all safety and sanitation protocols throughout the shift
  6. Maintain food storage, labeling, and rotating of all food items
  7. Able to work closely and communicate with the back of the house and front of the house teams in a constant high pace environment
  8. Follow and adhere to company policies at all times
  9. Maintain performance standards and motivate team through positive role modeling
  10. Maintain and operate kitchen equipment safely
  11. Communicate servers' food orders and service requests in an accurate and timely manner
  12. Must have enough stamina to be in constant motion and skills to coordinate and organize processes.
  13. Interact with all kitchen staff and other employees to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction
  14. Identify food that is incorrect and remedy the problem before it is sent to the guest.
  15. Pull foods in order of tickets from servers
  16. Know the table numbers in the restaurant, and be prepared to deliver food to dine-in guests
  17. Be aware of time; keep tabs on how long items have been in the window or on the screen display; find out why orders have not been completed timely
  18. Stock and rotate all needed supplies in the Expo area
  19. Comply with all local health, sanitation, and safety guidelines
  20. Other related duties as directed by management

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as food expeditor or other restaurant position
  2. Understanding of health and safety rules in a restaurant
  3. Dexterity in using kitchen equipment or utensils and carry heavy trays
  4. Well-organized and ability to lead and direct people
  5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  6. Displays key attributes at all times, i.e., team player, positive attitude, trustworthy, hardworking, organized and punctual.
  7. Outstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilities
  8. A customer-oriented approach
  9. Great physical endurance
  10. High school diploma; Higher degree in hospitality or relevant experience required
  11. Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop
  12. Food handling certification may be required according to legal regulations
