Job summary

Rail Events Productions, a subsidiary of American Heritage Railways, seeks a Food & Beverage Supervisor for THE POLAR EXPRESS Train Ride in Whippany, NJ. This seasonal, hourly role oversees F&B production, coordinates with production and FOH managers, and serves as on-site contact with vendors, staff, and passengers.

You will lead a fast-paced team, ensure safety and quality, manage inventory, and uphold REP standards while delivering a magical passenger experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience in food service, catering and special events.
  • Ability to lead and supervise staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with and maintain the REP Food and Beverage equipment.
  • Participate in the load in and load out process of the food and beverage area.
  • Manage daily staff duties, executing inventory controls including replenishing, stockroom controls and receiving.
  • Responsible for becoming familiar with and enforcing local and state health regulations.
  • Oversee daily fast paced operations including all opening/closing processes while ensuring 100% compliance with Rail Event Productions Food and Beverage event standards.
  • Ensure the product meets REP quality standards.
  • Work with local third-party vendors and Front of House Manager to coordinates cast, crew, and staff catered meals.
  • Assist FOH Manager by ensuring the Retail or F&B staff take their proper breaks.
  • Oversee the cleanliness, organization and maintenance of the food and beverage area.
  • Maintain strict cleanliness, meet all safety protocols and show ready product standards set by the Production Food and Beverage Supervisor.
  • Lead staff training, inspire a high performing staff to deliver exceptional work, and manage employee performance and morale in a temporary and at times high-paced environment.
  • Responsible for daily inventory of Food and Beverage amenities and products.
  • Maintain communication with the Production Food and Beverage Supervisor throughout the season.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Food and Beverage Supervisor will be responsible for managing all food and beverage production aspects in coordination with the Production Food and Beverage Supervisor, the local Production Manager, and the local Front of House Manager. They will serve as the on-site direct contact and will be responsible for professional communication with third-party vendors, railroad staff, event employees and passengers. The Food and Beverage Supervisor provides leadership and support to their team, coordinates onboard inventory with production staff, ensures quality control of product, and manages daily operations to deliver a seamless passenger experience. The Food and Beverage Supervisor will carry out responsibilities with a strong sense of urgency, work well under pressure, demonstrate excellent multitasking abilities, and consistently maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Collaborative team player who is organized, reliable, detail oriented and a strong problem solver
  • Experience in food service, catering and special events
  • Prior experience and a working knowledge of point-of-sales systems are a plus
  • Ability to solve problems in real time, in a live performance environment
  • Proven ability to work alongside and provide leadership for the event staff Candidate
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written forms
  • Possess strong self-motivation and thrives while working independently under remote management
  • Be physically capable of lifting heavy objects
Work Environment
  • Majority of time is spent in an indoor setting
  • Varying temperatures and weather conditions; both indoor and outdoor
  • Varied schedule requiring evenings, weekends, and overtime
  • Able to stand and walk on uneven or unsteady surfaces aboard a moving train
  • Workday is spent in and around active railroad yard(s)
