The Westin Portland Harborview Hotel is seeking a Food and Beverage Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our 15th-floor bar and lounge, Top of the East. This role assists the Executive Chef & Beverage and Restaurant Manager in delivering high-quality food and beverage service, while managing budgeted payroll and overhead costs. The Supervisor also aims to improve food and beverage sales revenues beyond the budget. This full-time position typically works 5 days a week, from 3 pm to 12 am, with weekends required. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills and be comfortable making independent decisions that benefit the business. Hotel experience and familiarity with inventory management and Micros POS systems are highly preferred. Supervisors are eligible for cell phone and parking reimbursements.

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 1 year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field required. High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • College coursework in a related field is helpful.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to clearly convey information and ideas.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Initiative in job performance, including anticipating needs.
  • Ability to work well under stress and high-pressure situations.
  • Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Effective problem-solving skills in the workplace.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources and adapt as needed.
  • Effective listening and communication skills with co-workers and guests.
  • Ability to understand financial data and perform basic arithmetic functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented interactions with guests and employees.
  • Maintain regular attendance per Aimbridge Hospitality standards.
  • Ensure high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and name tag.
  • Comply with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
  • Understand the organization of Aimbridge Hospitality Hotels and departmental functions.
  • Assist in maintaining food and beverage costs.
  • Maintain communication with staff regarding food and beverage issues and motivate team members.
  • Monitor cash overages and shortages of servers.
  • Ensure service standards using quality control tools like Standard of the Week and coaching.
  • Address accidents, problems, or guest complaints promptly.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures and locations of safety equipment.
  • Apply consistent disciplinary actions for F&B staff.
  • Be familiar with the hotel’s POS system.
  • Ensure staff are attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous at all times.
  • Assist in wage progress, productivity reports, and staff scheduling.
  • Participate in inventory and reconciliation processes.
  • Ensure side work duties are completed.
  • Contribute to promotional ideas and department meetings.
  • Promote sales efforts among service staff.
  • Assist in employee performance appraisals.
  • Help maintain quality and presentation of food products.
  • Attend weekly and daily meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
