We are seeking a Folder Gluer Technician to join our team in Commack, NY.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for setting up and production running of Folder/Gluer
  • Machine knowledge including feeder, gluer systems, delivery, and bar code readers
  • Experience with both straight line and auto lock boxes
  • Ability to read customer specifications, job tickets, and follow standard operating procedures
  • Set up and fine tuning of equipment to reduce stops during operation
  • Set up, adjust, and repair equipment as needed for smooth and trouble‑free operation
  • Inspect working parts and be able to recognize those that need replacement
  • Perform quality checks and maintain optimum quality at all times
  • Perform line clearance – clean assigned area by removing all product from line, trash, boxes, and other supplies associated with a completed order
  • Responsible for general maintenance and lubrication of machines
  • Assist with housekeeping in the bindery area
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all areas of finishing
  • Follow all required safety procedures and perform the job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees
  • Train new employees and support staff
  • Give directions to machine crew during production and down‑time
  • Act as a technical resource to other departments and coworkers to address and resolve inquiries and problems
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years as a folder gluer machine operator
  • Ability to work overtime, based on the needs of the business
  • Strong ability to multi‑task
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Requires experience running, troubleshooting, and quality control
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and maintain production charts and records
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for long hours, use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement, receive and follow instructions, and use vision
  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility. Regularly exposed to noise, dust, odors, and oils
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment (24‑hour turnaround on product)
  • Aptitude for mechanical operation
  • Adherent to all safety procedures
  • Superb attention to detail and product quality
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality – accurately record work time on a daily basis
  • Able to operate a computer and time clock machines
