Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a full-time Folder/Gluer Operator in Michigan to set up and maintain equipment for producing pharmaceutical cartons, sleeves, and folders. You will load stock, prepare feeders, and run the folder/gluer according to customer specifications and SOPs.

You will ensure total quality while operating the machine, maintain the area per procedures, and demonstrate competency in multiple folding styles. Overtime may be required to meet production demands.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Performs basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Maintains good attendance and adheres to work schedule.
• Willing to work overtime as needed, including extra shifts or extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain the folder/gluer to produce pharmaceutical cartons, sleeves, and folders.
• Load stock and prepare feeders and related systems.
• Operate the folder/gluer per customer specs and SOPs; ensure job quality.
• Maintain equipment and area per SOPs and safety rules.
• Demonstrate competency in folds (straight-line, lock-bottom, inner partition, 5th panels).
• Assist press and small machine operators as needed.
• Work safely and efficiently per company policies.

GENERAL PURPOSE: Set up and maintain the folder/gluer to produce pharmaceutical cartons, sleeves, and folders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Locates and loads proper stock in preparation for operation.
• Prepares make-ready feeder, prefold, glue system, final fold, delivery, stacker, pack station and inspection system.
• Operates folder/gluer in accordance with customer specifications and current standard operating procedures.
• Ensures total quality of the job while in operation.
• Maintains the machine and area in accordance with the standard operation procedures.
• Demonstrates competency in all basic folds: straight-line, lock-bottom, inner partition, and 5th panels.
• Assists press operators as needed at delivery end of press.
• Assists the small machine operators in the rewind area.
• Operates the folders in the insert area.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred
• Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Must have ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Must be capable of good attendance.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
