Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Lansing, MI is seeking a Folder/Gluer Operator to set up and run the folder/gluer for pharmaceutical cartons, sleeves and folders.

Responsibilities include loading stock, running the line per SOPs, ensuring quality, and keeping the area clean and safe. Candidates should read safety rules and be willing to work overtime, with good attendance and accuracy in basic arithmetic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Must maintain good attendance.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed and perform all essential functions with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Locates and loads proper stock in preparation for operation.
• Prepares make-ready feeder, prefold, glue system, final fold, delivery, stacker, pack station, and inspection system.
• Operates folder/gluer in accordance with customer specifications and current SOPs.
• Ensures total quality of the job while in operation.
• Maintains the machine and area in accordance with SOPs.
• Demonstrates competency in folding operations.
• Assists press operators at the delivery end and small machine operators in the rewind area.
• Operates folders in the insert area.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
• Works safely and efficiently per company policies.

General Purpose

Set up and maintain the folder/gluer to produce pharmaceutical cartons, sleeves, and folders.

Essential Job Functions

• Locates and loads proper stock in preparation for operation.
• Prepares make-ready feeder, prefold, glue system, final fold, delivery, stacker, pack station, and inspection system.
• Operates folder/gluer in accordance with customer specifications and current standard operating procedures.
• Ensures total quality of the job while in operation.
• Maintains the machine and area in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Demonstrates competency in all basic folds: straight-line, lock-bottom, inner partition, and 5th panels.
• Assists press operators as needed at the delivery end of the press.
• Assists small machine operators in the rewind area.
• Operates folders in the insert area.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
• Works in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Must be capable of maintaining good attendance.
