Job summary

The Justice Management Division (JMD) Office of the General Counsel (OGC) advises Department management on FOIA, Privacy Act, procurement, personnel, and related matters. The selected attorney provides legal advice on FOIA responses, reviews policies, supports litigation in federal courts, and collaborates with USAOs and other DOJ components. The position requires U.S.

citizenship, a J.D. from an accredited law school, bar admission, and at least four years of post–J.D.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be US citizens, hold a J.D. from an accredited law school, and be an active member in good standing of the bar.
• Four or more years of post‑J.D. legal experience required for GS‑15 level.
• Experience in FOIA and Privacy Act matters is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to JMD officials on FOIA/Privacy Act responses.
• Assist USAOs in FOIA litigation involving JMD in federal courts.
• Review and advise on FOIA-related policies and the JMD FOIA program.
• Collaborate with the General Counsel, other OGC attorneys, and DOJ components.
