The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking an Attorney-Advisor to join the Office of Information Policy in Washington, DC. The role focuses on adjudicating FOIA appeals, interpreting laws, regulations, and agency practices related to FOIA, and advising on related litigation. Preferred candidates have a J.D.

degree, active bar status, and experience in FOIA processing or litigation, with potential for promotion to GS-15. Security clearances and background checks apply.

Formación

• J.D. degree and active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.
• Knowledge of FOIA and Privacy Act; admin law/civil litigation experience preferred.
• Experience with FOIA processing/litigation for GS-13 level; promotion potential GS-15.

Responsabilidades

• Adjudicate administrative FOIA appeals after reviewing the administrative record.
• Conduct legal research and advise on FOIA and Privacy Act issues.
• Develop mastery of assigned FOIA areas and update DOJ FOIA guide sections.
• Encourage FOIA compliance by Department components.
• Provide written and oral legal advice to litigators and, periodically, defend FOIA lawsuits.
