Job summary

CGS seeks a FOIA Paralegal to join our legal team supporting a large federal agency. You will perform legal review and FOIA request processing, including searching, screening for exemptions, redacting, and drafting documents to support litigation.

Ideal candidates will have paralegal certification or JD, 1+ year of litigation paralegal experience, and familiarity with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, LEXIS, and Westlaw. Ability to obtain a security clearance is required.

Qualifications

Paralegal certificate, JD, or active ABA-approved law student (1 year completed).
At least one year of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience helpful.
Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, or other eDiscovery tools.
Experience processing FOIA requests.
Strong knowledge of FOIA rules; ability to cite-check motions and memos using legal research tools.
Excellent written and oral communication; proficient with common office software.
Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

Conduct searches and analyze results to separate non-responsive from responsive documents.
Screen responsive documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions and redact/codify as needed.
Perform legal research to support FOIA requests and related litigation.
Draft legal documents as required by the review process.
