Job summary

The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) seeks a Compliance Officer to lead the agency's FOIA, civil rights, and ADA accessibility efforts. Based at the DSS Home Office, you will ensure transparent processes, timely responses, and strong internal controls in support of VDSS programs and services.

You will report to the Director of Compliance, coordinate with program divisions, legal counsel, and external partners to strengthen compliance readiness and training.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of FOIA and related timelines, exemptions, redaction requirements, and public records standards.
• Knowledge of civil rights laws and regulations, including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504, and related nondiscrimination requirements.
• Knowledge of Title II of Americans with Disabilities Act, including reasonable accommodation principles and accessibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate FOIA requests, tracking, review, and fulfillment.
• Investigate and respond to civil rights complaints and inquiries.
• Oversee ADA accessibility requests and complaints for clients served by VDSS and local partners.
